Firstly make sure that it is professional technicians who will be carrying out the electric chain hoist maintenance activity of the electric chain hoist for you.
- Basic To Do's and Dont's
- Always keep load chain in lubrication.
- Do not extend load chain by connecting, adding or welding extra load chain.
- Do not touch the electrified components.
- Do not adjust friction clutch.
- Do not repair the hoist with However, this is not suitable for regular check of brake, fiction clutch and limit switch.
- Attach warning sign of "danger" both on power source and push button switch during maintenance.
- Do not operate the hoist when it is being repaired.
- Always repair the hoist by using the LOADMATE parts. Only professional technicians are allowed to do repairing work.
- Always shut off power source when the hoist is being repaired. However, this is not suitable for the check of push button switch and power source voltage.
- After maintenance, always test load capacity before going on to operate the hoist.
- During shipment of parts, ensure that you hands and other parts of body won't be knocked by the moving load.
- Lubrication
Always replace gear oil by referring to rated load and operation hours in the following table. However, replace gear oil at least every five years even if the hoist has not worked up to specified hours.
In order to replace gear oil, please take off oil plug and leak cover, drain old gear oil, and then fill in new specialized gear oil. Using sub standard or similar brand gear oil tends to cause abnormal friction clutch, and then result in load falling off the hoist.
Note: Old gear oil should be disposed according to local law and regulations.
3. Replacement of chain
Whether load chain should be lubricated once a week or more frequently depends on how often it is used.
Kindly follow the following steps to replace chain . Refer for replacement of single fall chain and double fall chain respectively.
- Single fall chain
- Take down stopper from no load side.
- Attach C-link to end chain circle.
- Attach new chain end to C-link.
- Operate the hoist to lower chain.
- Stop lowering chain when there is enough new chain on load side.
- Install chain spring or cushion rubber and bottom hook taken down from the old chain to load side of new chain end.
- Install chain spring or cushion rubber and stopper taken down from the old chain to no-load side of new chain.
- Double fall chain
- Take down stopper from no load side.
- Attach C-link to end chain circle.
- Attach new chain end to C-link.
- Operate the hoist to lower chain.
- Stop lowering chain when there is enough new chain on load side.
- Feed all load side end of new chain into idle sheave.
- Ensure that chain does not twist during the whole linking process when chain end is connected to link with chain pin.
- Install chain spring or cushion rubber and stopper taken down from the old chain to no-load side of new chain
4. Examination
- First examination: Before a new or altered hoist is put into use, it should be examined by professional personnel to ensure it is up to standard.
- Usual examination procedures can be divided into two types according to examination intervals, which meanwhile depend on status of important parts and the wear-out, deterioration and breakdown that they display. The two types here is defined as daily examination and regular examination.
- Daily examination: Operators or professional personnel take a visual inspection. Check if there are defects and damage referring to the recommended items ,including the ones displayed during regular examinations. It should be professional personnel who decide if the defects or damage will bring danger or need detailed inspection.
- Regular examination: Professional personnel take a visual inspection. Take an overall review of the hoist according to recommended items in "regular examinations" section. The review can be done in hoist working areas. There is no need to take apart the whole hoist. Open or take down cover plate and other parts for examination. It should be professional personnel who carry out regular examination items and decide whether it will bring danger or needs an overall examination. Regular exam includes daily check items.
- Normal use: check it once a year.
- Frequent use: check it once half a year.
- Excessive frequent use: check it once a quarter.
- In special case or seldom use: for the first time, examine it according to the intervals recommended by technicians; do it under the technician's guide later.
Occasional Use of Electric Chain Hoist
- When the hoist leaves unused for more than one month and less than one year, please check the items required. Then it can be put into use.
- When the hoist leaves unused for more than one year, Then it can be put into use.
