The Journey : Manual Chain Blocks To Electric Chain Hoist

The invention of manual chain blocks dates back to the early 3rd century BC, and is credited to Archimedes, a Greek inventor. He invented a pulley design to haul ships out of the sea. This was done using a special hook and tackle system. Such early inventions of pulleys system led to the development of chain hoist.

After the invention of Manual Chain pulley blocks there were many challenges that need to be accomplished for the development of material handling industry. Some of the roadblocks are discussed below

  • Speed of operation: There rose a need of constant speed of operation for the proper tuning of the production cycle. Manual operational speed changed from the operator to operator and sometimes for the same operator also. Some time excess speed was also demanded which was beyond the human ability
    1. Continuous operation: As the world moved toward the globalisation, the new market open for every industry and much more production was required to cater this market. For this the machines were made to run continuously for long hours.
    1. Consistency in operation: With the high rate of attrition of operating labor there as a need for the consistent way of operation of chain blocks. Electric Hoist reduced the dependency on humans
    1. More safety was demanded: There was a need of handling heavy weight material even where the conditions were not favourable for humans. High Temperature, acidic temperatures were the most common cases of the non workable environment.
    1. Sequential/autonomous tasks: With the automation coming into role there was need to maintain proper timing between the processes.
  1. Multi dimensional tasks: More and more labor was required to control the different axis of operation of manual arrangement of blocks.

Even though the above list is not exhaustive it covers the main factors that lead to the invention of Electric Chain hoist. The other type of auto chain hoist is air hoist.

How To Install A Electric Chain Hoist?

Things to create positive before installation: The  electric chain hoist  and  trolley   are prepackaged severally. first, check if the number of the  hoist  accords with the number of units in the invoice and if their area unit any damages occurred from the transportation or abnormal packing. Also, Check the plate and see if the rated capacity, lifting speed, lifting height,  cross traveling   speed in addition because the power provide is up to plain. Check if screws of prime hook set are loosed and if the chains are knotted and twisted. 1. Check the track where the hoist and trolley combo is to be mounted: The run track of the hoist adopted is the I- Beam steel. The range of width is 75-180 mm for 1T - 2T and 100-180 mm for 3T-5T. The track for running should be smooth and its swerve radius cannot but the minimum radius stipulated within the plate. the location of axle height at the tip of the track should be mounted a physical property b...

Hoist & Trolley: Follow these tips to stay safe

Safety First, Safety Last and Safety Always Danger exists when heavy loads are transported, particularly when the equipment is not being used properly or is poorly maintained. Because accidents and serious injury could result, special safety precautions apply to the operation, maintenance and inspection of  LOADMATE hoists  and trolleys. Kindly read the below mentioned general care and  safety tips  to follow before and while operation of LOADMATE Electric Chain Hoist or  Electric Trolleys . Before use: Always  read the owner`s manual and safety instructions Always  check that the hook latches work properly and replace missing or broken hook latches. Never  lift more than capacity shown on the hoist name plate Never  operate a hoist if damaged or malfunctioning Never  use a twisted , kniked, damaged or stretched load chai...
